Maersk Performance Transformation
Maersk is a global leader with 100k+ customers, and an equal number of employees in over 130 countries. A key part of the client's company-wide transformation in 2023 was to advance new ways of working and to onboard more diverse talents. Becoming more human-centric and making people feel central to the change was key. The focus was to improve performance by fostering a culture of constant feedback, with regular performance, team and career conversations aligned to global/local business strategies. The client had attempted and failed to achieve lasting success in the past and was open to try new approaches to achieve success.
Partnering with heads of their performance & talent management, people function, corporate comms and brand teams, as well as talent delivery & deployment, Colin Connor led a global creative team to deliver a branded end-to-end experience for all related manager and employee touchpoints. We worked closely with Korn Ferry’s People & Performance team, led by Marco Mingolla, to design, a multiyear capability strategy with redefined key behaviors and content aligned to new company purpose and values. Our integrated solutions incorporated digital learning, leadership development, change management and a “radically human” communications campaign.
The campaign & change playbook Colin’s global team developed, enabled local business partners to engage employees with fun, inspiring “cultural moments” aligned to each content release. These targeted both office and skilled trades leaders with a persona-based content approach, which eventually included translations of core assets into seven languages.
What resulted was the largest HR transformation program in company history and a 43% increase in employee engagement for participating teams. The changes also led to significant momentum in regular feedback sharing amongst managers and teams, enhancing both individual and team performance. Employees have shared rave reviews and the program is now being translated into additional local languages.
