Cobleskill Ag & Tech Logo
When CoCoWorks started working with SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech, the college's leaders struggled to lean into their name as New York’s top public school for agriculture and technology. Being one of 67 state schools, setting themselves apart was essential. This required approval from the state's Chancellor of Education, especially since at least three other schools offer similar programs. The leadership team was also divided on both the school’s name and brand identity.
What began as research on how people viewed the school’s formal name grew into a full proposal for a fresh visual and verbal identity. The college needed input from many voices to agree on a clear vision for a stable future in a crowded college market.
CoCoWorks helped the college confidently take bold steps by involving new students, faculty, alumni, and staff in research and testing. They shared feedback about everything from images that reflect the unique, hands-on learning on the 900+ acre campus to the words that connect best with prospective students and parents.
Our research gained the state’s buy-in and enabled the team to build out a new set of brand guidelines and assets. The new logo shows growth and learning within the large farm campus, which serves as each student’s personal lab. The brand guide introduces a “learning in action” tagline and a strong brand personality for all communications.
With the new approach approved, the college is creating materials to share their story across key channels, while starting groundbreaking research with Cornell and other partners. Their school President, Dr. Terenzio, testifies that the college is now confident in its role as a leader in agricultural and technology education and research center in the region and beyond.
